Down Clubs Draw 2020/21

To:- All Members and Friends of Castlewellan GAC On behalf of Executive Committee of Naomh Maolmhoig CLG Caisleán an Mhuilinn An Duin we would like to firstly take this opportunity to thank all our members for co-operating and adhering to the GAA guidelines over the past 7 months in relation to the current Covid 19 pandemic. Our club members continue to invest so much of their time and energy in the development and promotion of Gaelic Games in our community from our sporting activities, to our coaches, the culture, our lotto collectors, match day volunteers, to our cleaning group, club & ground maintenance, events and funding, communications, social media and administration, a sincere ‘Go raibh maith agat’ to all.


As you are aware St.Malachy’s GAC is the largest fully integrated sporting organisation in the area with 500 plus members and cater for male and female through four different sports, Mens football – Hurling – Ladies football – Camogie and with our ever expanding facilities in order to cater for the increasing demands the financial implications involved are huge. This has been a very challenging year due to the Covid 19 pandemic, with income from regular sources e.g. Bar – Lotto – Membership – Gate receipts – Sponsorship – Annual Club Draw all greatly reduced and even some of these completely obliterated, even though all the usual financial outlays still must be met. The Ex. Comm. at their recent meeting discussed this financial crisis and have decided the best way forward to try and alleviate this problem is to fully integrate and support the successful Annual Down Clubs Draw.


CLUBS DRAW in ASSOCIATION with DOWN CLUBS The Down GAA Clubs Draw which began in 2012 has been a major success for the County and Clubs of Down. In the 8 years of the draw a total of over £5.03 million has been raised, with over £3.3 million going to the clubs of Down, with the Co. Board retaining £0.84 million. A total of £0.88 million has been paid out in prizes BENEFITS to YOUR CLUB The benefits for your club are tremendous. £96 out of every Ticket sold after 24 goes directly to your Club e.g. If your Club sell another 100 tickets, then your Club generate approx. £10,000 for itself with no outlay! TOTAL. PRIZE FUND £110,000 12 MONTHLY. DRAWS 2 SUPER DRAWS (June & December) With 5 prizes of £1,000 to be won per month 1 prize of £5,000, 5 prizes of £2,000 and 5 prizes of £1,000 First Draw in February 2021 Ticket Price £120 or payment by Direct Debit @ £10 per month BONUS FREE IN HOUSE CLUB DRAW As an additional incentive, the Club will also be entering all Castlewellan ticket buyers in a special Free Draw which will take place early in the New Year – prizes to be confirmed depending on ticket sales

The success or failure of this huge Fundraising venture is totally dependant on the support from the members and friends of Castlewellan GAC and to this end, can we appeal to you for your support once again in these exceptional times. If your could respond to either of us declaring your intentions of support, it would be greatly appreciated thus allowing us to continue with our forward planning. Otherwise one of the Clubs organising committee will make contact with you in the next 4 – 10 weeks.


Due to the recent additional Covid 19 restrictions and directives from Croke Park the Club Executive Committee have agreed to put the following Temporary Regulations in place. a) The proposed 2020 AGM for Nov. shall be deferred until conditions allow a new time and date to be agreed. b) The current Executive Committee shall remain in office and continue to execute the business and affairs of the Club c) The secretary and treasurer shall compile their Annual Reports/Reviews to be considered at the reconvened AGM.
