Weekly Notes 10 May 2015

Coaching for Nursery, P1 and P2 boys and girls in all codes will continue in St Malachy’s Park on Saturday May 16th at 10am. Please ensure that you have membership paid on line at www.castlewellangac,com All new members welcome. Please also note that children should bring indoor shoes as coaching will be indoors if it is wet.

On Saturday past an U10 blitz was held in the town and our lads recorded wins over Bryansford, Carryduff and Darragh Cross. According to all accounts team members played their heart out, well done boys! Thanks to the clubs for taking part and a particular thank you to referees Ciaran Brannigan & Jim Magorrian

The senior hurlers suffered a defeat to carryduff in the league last Monday, going down by a scoreline 2-13 to 0-7. The lads fought hard but a lack of players left the town boys with a handicap that would be difficult to recover from. Best for the town were Jason Croskery, Joe Cunningham, Colm McCann and Fionnbarr Lennon.

Coaching for U8 and U10 (P3-P7) girls continues in the St Malachy’s Park on Saturday May 16th.. Camogie 10.00 – 10.45, Football 10.45 – 11.30. All new members welcome.

There will be an opportunity to pay juvenile membership in the Club on Saturday morning between 9.45 and 10.45am.

Football and hurling training for children in P3 & P4 takes place on Tuesday evening from 6.30 to 7.30 in Bann Road. The P3 & P4’s will be attending a hurling blitz on Saturday in Carryduff so there will be no training for this age group next Saturday morning. 

Castlewellan minors continued their good run of results with 2 fine victories at St Malachys Park. First up where Loughinisland who caught the Town lads in fine form. The lads played some great stuff eventually winning 7-14 to 2-9. Best on the night where quartet Ryan Lundy, Sean OBoyle, Ronan Barr and Lee Ward who controlled the game in mid field. James McAleenan marshaled the back line while up front Gareth McKibben and man of the match Conor Magorrian where a constant threat all match. Next up on Tuesday past was Downpatrick and it was the visitors who started strongest going ahead 2-2 to no score in the first 10 minutes. The Town lads dug in and trailed by 6 at half time. In the 2nd half the Town lads rallied and took control of the game. Playing some great football and eventually edging a gripping encounter 2-16 to 4-9. Best for the Town was Gareth Devlin, Matthew Muldoon, Sean P Carvill, Gareth McKibben and man of the match Keelan Burns.

Hurling training for boys from P5 to first years will take place in St Malachy’s Park on Wednesday evening from 5.45 to 6.45 pm.

Mario @ the Meadow will NOT be serving Sunday lunches in the club, for the next couple of weeks. This is due to essential maintenance work that has to be carried out, to the front of house & kitchen area of the club. We will notify you when this has taken place and when Mario will be back.
